Trial of alleged street gang member resumes: "Philistin Paul, 32, alleged to be a street gang member associated with the Bloods, faces charges, including attempted murder, related to a shooting in Montreal North on June 4. Beauvoir Jean, 46, a former street gang leader who now works to counsel youth against joining gangs, initially told police that while trying to intervene in an argument outside a strip mall on Pascal St., Paul began to argue with him. He said he and Paul, who goes by the nickname Crazy, exchanged blows and that Paul then pulled out a firearm and fired in his direction. It is believed that Paul then tried to hide the firearm in his pants and that it went off a second time, injuring his thigh. Jean wasn’t injured, but called 911 and told the person who handled the call that Paul tried to shoot him. Jean gave a videotaped statement to the police to that effect shortly after the shooting.
